At the September BCA meeting, we heard from Mark Burger, Executive Director of the Onondaga Soil and Water Conservation District, regarding the Emerald Ash Borer crisis the county is currently confronting.  Residents with Ash trees were urged to have their trees checked by an expert since close to 100 percent of trees will be infested if they are not infested already.  Infested trees can snap from the bottom of the trunk without warning in moderate winds even if they still have some foliage. This can lead to property damage, injury or death.  It is strongly recommended that residents cut down any Ash trees on their property or have them regularly injected with the appropriate pesticide.  Mark Burger can be reached at 315-457-0325 ext. 102 or via email at [email protected].
