As many are already aware there was a break-in on Jonquil near Blueberry a few weeks ago. A neighbor raised the alarm and the suspect, who had priors, was apprehended. Apparently he knew somebody in that or the neighboring house making this a targeted break-in and as such an isolated incident. The neighbor is to be commended for being watchful and proactive. This type of action along with alerting each other of suspicious activities particularly over the neighborhood social media app Bayberry Nextdoor (web address on first page of newsletter), as many of you already do, is exactly the type of action that we need to keep our neighborhood safe. Also remember to lock doors, windows, garages and sheds to keep from being a tempting target.

Another much discussed topic has been a police pursuit that took place in Bayberry also a few weeks ago. Apparently what happened was that a couple people from Syracuse were trying to break into a local business in Liverpool close to Bayberry. When surprised by police, they fled into the Bayberry neighborhood where they were pursued by police including the Air One helicopter and canine units. Despite attempts to do so, I was unable to reach the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department for comment. I guess the moral of the story is to always lock your doors at night and continue to share what you know on Nextdoor. For advice on web-enabled home security cameras and sensors contact Mike Banks at [email protected] or at 315-652-2657.

Together we can keep our neighborhood safe!
