With the future of the Bayberry Community Association in the balance, former President Debbie Magaro-Dolan would like to share a letter to our community members. We encourage all members of our community to join us on Sunday, January 6 at 7:00pm at United Church of Christ for our January meeting. We will be discussing the future of the BCA and whether it can continue. Without volunteers to help organize our association, we will not be able to sustain the activities and benefits we have all enjoyed for years.

Dear Members,

With the recent resignation of the President of the Bayberry Community Association, we have come to, once again, a crossroads for our great organization. As a resident for over 20 years and a past President, Past Executive Board Member, and current Board member I cannot sit by and watch the BCA as we know it dissolve. Think of the great benefits we reap from having an association. In addition to the great social events such as the Annual Santa Visit, the Summer Family Picnic, and Family Halloween Parade at the Plaza, Holiday decorating contest, garage sale, and the newest event, the tree lighting, we also have a great presence in our community including representation at the Town of Clay Board and the Liverpool Board of Education and our Meet the Candidates Night. We also have given back to our community with the annual roadway cleanup, spring entrance planting, the cookie drive for our local first responders, donations to various organizations over the years, and the scholarship we have awarded for many years. We cannot lose all of this.

While I was involved whole-heartedly for many years, the past few years my children’s activities and organizations have taken me away from the day to day operation of the BCA. I know there is just not enough time in everyone’s day and lives to fit it all in.

I ask the over 1500 households of the BCA what they truly want to see happen with our great organization. Do we want to see it STOP and be a thing of the past or do we want to step boldly into the future having this great organization at our side?

Consider what you can do for the organization to keep it going. Our organization has a 60 year-plus history. Let’s not lose what has been done. Let’s move into the future with a strong association.

We have openings for President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, and Secretary. These positions can all be shared with multiple people. Many of the activities of the BCA already have chair people who take on these tasks year after year. We really need someone to lead us into the future and maybe come up with new ideas, but really just carry on what is already exists. Look to your next door neighbors and see if you can come up with a few people who would like to join you in stepping up to carry on the legacy of the Bayberry Community Association.

With neighborly regard,
Debbie Magaro-Dolan
Past President, BCA
